Project Overview

For this assignment, I created a self-portrait poster in the style of a magazine cover to introduce myself to my classmates. I needed to incorporate details to help my classmates learn more about me and my hobbies/life. I used Canva to create the design and researched the elements typically used on magazine covers. I experimented with various uses of font and color to make the design look catchy, as well as language that would invite a “reader” to browse the magazine. Instead of writing straightforward paragraphs about myself, I framed each detail I wanted to share as a headline for an article. For the cover image, I removed the background using the Canva background remover tool so that the picture would look similar to how models pose for magazine covers. This fun project allowed me to flex my creative muscles and experiment with design elements while also sharing details about my life.
